On a hot, dusty day in August 1886, Violet St. James arrives in the budding town of Dearborn, Colorado, to accept a teaching position. She wants to look to her future, but Mr. William Montgomery’s discerning eyes threaten to dredge up the secrets from her past.
William Montgomery has lived in Dearborn all his life, so it’s no wonder he wants Violet, as the city’s newest arrival, to know him for who is really is, not just what his job responsibilities entail.
Amid the chaos of the classroom and a menacing band of at-large robbers, can Violet and Will learn to trust each other with their true selves? Or will fear stand in the way of their happily-ever-after?
